Sweden embodies a culture of movement and a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. In our latest project, we've included sports and wellness activities as an essential aspect of the integration process. As part of this initiative, in collaboration with Friluftsframjandet, we organized a special 5 km hike at the end of November for Ukrainians living in Stockholm who are covered by the EU's Temporary Protection Directive
Friluftsfrämjandet is Sweden's top outdoor organization, offering safe, enjoyable, and educational outdoor adventures all year round, from forests to mountains and beyond.
Guided by three experts from the Swedish Outdoor Association, we took a scenic 5 km hike around Lake Kottla in Lidingö. Along the way, we made several stops to listen to stories from the guides, enjoy the surroundings, capture moments with the season's first snow, and, of course, for fika.
These hikes offer an experience for the entire family. Our event was no exception – participants came with children who had the opportunity to make new friends.
After the hike, we gathered for a classic lakeside barbecue, with sausages sizzling and tea brewing over an open fire – immersing ourselves in the best hiking traditions. Following fireside conversations, each participant received a mug with a QR code for a free Friluftsframjandet membership, unlocking adventures all over Sweden for all ages and seasons, plus many more benefits to make outdoor experiences unforgettable.
A big thanks to Josefiina Ben Azzouz, Liz Nordström, and Ewa Hedlund for helping organize the event. Thanks to everyone who joined us for a day of exploration and friendship.
